“We’re Not An Orphanage… We Are a Family!”
People have asked us, “what is your biggest job in Haiti,” or “which project requires more of your time?” Our Love A Child “Children’s Home,” started out to be another orphanage in Haiti… We started with four orphaned children, whose fathers and mothers died. The Orphanage with four children grew and grew and grew. We always say we “have 85 children,” but we actually have had more, that have moved on with their lives. Sheline Limose, was our first to be married, and she now lives in the states with a wonderful husband and her children. After that, four children got married and Franceau will be married in February.
“Our Children’s Home.”
Of all the projects we have, running, overseeing, operating, and “watching over” all these children are the biggest project with the most responsibility. There are gangs in the streets, and each day, we have 20 children going to college, walking, and riding Tap Tap in some of the worst areas of Haiti. It is a big responsibility for the young girls to keep their minds on college and school, and not get a boyfriend! We tell them, “Jesus first, education second, marriage, last!”
These children really consider us their “mother and father,” and do not know of anyone else as their parents. Our children would prefer we call this our “Children’s Home,” because they say, “we are a family and not an orphanage!” It is like “raising a family all over again,” but only, it is a very large family!! We must be a father and mother to each one and give each time with us. It is a “huge responsibility,” but this is where our heart is. We are proud of each child, and we want them to grow and make Haiti better for everyone!
We want to thank our wonderful partners, who have been sponsoring our ” Love A Child College Fund,” because having 20 children in college, in Haiti is not easy. God bless each of you for your prayers, love, and support!
