“Our Biggest Project”

When we first moved to Haiti on July 1st, 1991, we had no idea we would be responsible for the lives of so many children. We knew “nothing about running an orphanage,” could not yet speak the language, and were “dirt poor.”

A short time later, when we went to the village of Petit Desdunes (a Voodoo village), the people told me about a woman who was dying and asked if I had any medicines. They said her husband died, and she had four children.

That’s how it all began… I tried to save the mother’s life because I did not want to take in those kids! We knew nothing about how to take care of them. But, when their mother died, the village insisted that we take them! And we did!

As the orphanage grew, we came to realize that, in addition to the cost of school, school uniforms, books, shoes, etc., some children would need expensive medical care. And we knew that God wanted “these children” to have a good education and become leaders in Haiti! God wanted us to raise “thoroughbreds!”

Some children were missing from this picture because they were volunteering at our Jesus Healing Center Clinic, Birthing Center, and Malnutrition Center! College is a heavy load upon our backs. Please pray about helping with the Children’s College Fund.

This is heavy upon our hearts.

God bless you,
Sherry
