Colin’s story is much different than our other children. When he was about six, he and his family lived in Miracle Village, which is within walking distance from our Orphanage, and the houses we built for the poor a long time ago. Since we have a large orphanage, we know that things can happen “any time,” and sometimes, it can be something dangerous.

One day, Colin’s mother had made a big iron pot of food. The pot was still hot, so his mother scraped out all the food so it would cool and then put it in another pot. Colin decided to get a spoon and scrape some rice that was still clinging to the pot! His father, who was mean and involved in Voodoo, saw him eating the spoonful of rice and decided to “teach him a lesson!” He held Colin’s hand in the hot charcoal!

When we heard about this, we were furious. The first thing we did was to get Colin to our Clinic. Then, we called our attorney, who knew about problems like this. He told us to keep Colin, and if his father caused problems, we were to report him! Well… his father never came to see him!

Colin is a teenager now and makes good grades! We believe God has a “plan for his life!” We want to thank all our partners who help us care for the Haitian children in our orphanage! Like Colin, they all have a “story” of God’s great power to love, heal, and forgive.
