He is such a sweet, but mysterious young boy. Daniello (Daniel) is 12 and he loves to work outside – but doesn’t like school! In fact, I don’t know how they got him to go to school this year. Daniello was abandoned in the village of Old Letant when his mother died. Some people in the village tried to feed him, but he was near death when we took him in. As for his health, he began to improve… but mentally, he declined. When he was about six or seven, he would leave school. The teachers would go and find him, and even tie him to his chair!

He got worse every year, until last year, I took him out of school for a year and gave him jobs to do in the orphanage. But he would always “wander off.” So this year, we are trying again. He is in 2nd grade. We do not know how far he can go in school but he wants to be a mechanic! (We will have to watch him because he might just “drive off” with one of our vehicles!) Daniello has his problems but he is a sweet kid! And, we love him.
