Our David Noel…

David Noel and his twin brother, Davidson, were carried down the steep mountain from Covant, Haiti to our old orphanage in Bwa Monquet, Haiti by their grandmother on Christmas Eve. Her name was actually “Grandma Noel!” (Note: this mountain is so high that when we traveled it, we had to use mules to get up there!) Grandma Noel and a family member made that long journey to save the life of twin brothers David and Davidson.

Their father had either died or had left their mother after she gave birth. Since she had no money for milk or sugar, she had been feeding the newborns “salt water!” Both of them had their throats so swollen they could barely swallow! We had to hire a lady, Madamn Jan, to care for them. They had to drink from a “dropper.” Finally, after a long time, they were “out of the dark.”

David wants to be an engineer, and he is in his first year of college now. He has come a long way since drinking “salt water” as an orphaned baby, and being carried over the mountains… but God is good.
