Esther is the “younger sister” of Widlene. She was an infant of just about five-months-old when her mother, Madamn Jesula, appeared at the gate of our house in Haiti. This was “high in the mountains,” and we always had poor people knocking on our gate for “something…”
This time, a poor woman that was crying and crying had knocked on our gate with a little girl about five and a baby in her arms. The baby was “Esther,” and the little girl was “Widlene.” Madamn Jesula said to me, “I just want to find someone to look after my two girls when I die.”
Wow. I had never heard that story before. Madamn Jesula did not know it, but she was suffering from severe malnutrition. Her husband had left her and all she could do was beg in the streets. I asked her name and she said, “Jesula.” I said, “Well, Jesula means ‘Jesus is here,’ and if He is here, you won’t die!” We put her in the hospital and when she was well, we took her and her two girls into our orphanage.
Esther also is a “very, very intelligent young lady.” She loves to do hair in different styles, and she loves to dress up and put on makeup!!! (I wonder where she gets that from???) She loves clothes and high heels… and she often buys the heels second-hand. She really wants to be a vet but she will have to go to another country to do that. So, she may change her objective.
Esther is a “cleaner,” and when she does a job, it is done right! She is kind to everyone, loves Gospel music, and is always so helpful! She often volunteers in the Malnutrition Center, or Clinic, or Birthing Center… She will go “very far” in her life!!! Thank you, everyone, for your prayers for Esther!
