When we first started our Malnutrition Clinic here in Fond Parisien, we knew “nothing” about how to start it, what all would be involved, or the problems to be aware of while operating a Malnutrition Clinic! So, we went to visit our friend, Lori Moise, who had a wonderful Malnutrition Clinic! She gave us such good advice and we will forever be grateful!!
Taking in “sick babies” can be a “nightmare” if the mother decides “she could just leave the baby” and not come back! Poor mothers in Haiti can do this, and we must have wisdom and compassion! Lori taught us that we needed to know “where the mother lived,” because some mothers with many children will be tempted to go off and leave the baby with us!
Through the years, we accepted any advice anyone else could give us. This is a very “expensive clinic,” because not only do we need doctors and pediatricians, but we also must buy “special kinds of baby formula” and “special foods” for malnourished babies! In addition, we must have a “full-time” staff, including the nurses, doctors and pediatricians!
If you would like to help in any way, please contact our Love A Child office in Fort Myers, Florida. If you would like to donate baby clothes, crib sheets, disposable diapers, or clothing for toddlers, please call our office at 239-210-6107. On behalf of the malnourished babies here in Haiti, thank you and God bless you.
