Our Malnutrition Clinic is always full. When we first built it, we thought that five babies were all we could keep at one time. (They need nurses and doctors 24/7!)
But now, we usually have eight babies. It takes more funds for these few babies than for medicines and other outreaches. The little ones you see here have been with us for a while. When they reach their “ desired weight,” they can go home.
When a mother comes with a malnourished baby, no matter where her house or “hut” may be, we have to send a worker to follow her home because if not, some mothers would not come back for their baby!
We must teach each mother how to plant items that are good for starving babies. There is a lot for them to learn.
The most dangerous problem is this: All Haitian mothers want cute, “fat-looking babies.” Many times, they feed their babies things that are not good for them, but will make them gain weight! This takes lots of patience to teach the mothers the right food for their child!
Thank you for your love and prayers! We are in constant need of fitted crib sheets, diapers of all sizes, and small children’s clothing, especially for little boy toddlers. If you would like to help, please send items to:
