Our Samuel…

We first met Samuel’s father in the mountains of Greffin, during a Mobile Clinic. It was at the end of the week when a poor mountain man came up to us weeping with a baby in his arms. His wife had died, leaving him with six children, plus this new baby. (Apparently she had died during child birth.)

He asked if we would take the baby… Never before had I actually seen a grown Haitian man cry, but he wept immensely. In fact, we all had tears running down our faces. The baby had already begun to have signs of malnutrition.

We brought him home and named him Samuel. He is now in the equivalent of 10th grade. (Haiti has 13 years of school.) Samuel is so, so sweet, respectful, and hard working. He loves music, playing the drums, and playing soccer with his brothers. He often works in the Agricultural Center, but most often he is needed as a painter here at Love A Child. He also loves to sing and draw…

He is praying that he can go to college and become an electrical engineer. We will see what God wants for his life… Samuel is “good soil” to invest in.
