Our Sweet Dimelia (Dumolia)… When she was very young, about five or six, she fell into a tub of boiling water. She burned her chest and neck and other parts of her body. Her father brought her down from the mountains to see if we had any help for her. We took her into our Orphanage. We did everything we could. We sent her to a burn center in the States, where they had to remove skin from parts of her body and graft it to other areas.
The Shriners helped with finding “burn centers.” We also had to find an “adoptive family” for her to stay with while undergoing painful skin grafts for years. After she graduated, we sent her to Jamaica for college. Why? She knew English “much better” than French,
(which is used in high schools and colleges here in Haiti). So, we sent her to college in Jamaica. She is doing great! This year, she will be taking “Decision Science, Academic Literacy for Undergrads, Governance and Society, and Fundamentals of Accounts! Sounds tough to me!
She is also very involved in church, and she is responsible for the “sound system,” and other things!! She is “adorably sweet, kind, and gentle!” We love her and she will go far! My job is to pray that the Lord will give her a good husband!” Ha! We love this sweet kid!!
