She was born in one of the highest mountains in Haiti. Her mother had died when she was born, and her father, Jean Estime, was a poor man and not able to care for her. The trip up to the highest mountains where she was born was long, hot, and dangerous! We had heard about a poor farmer whose wife had died, and there was no one to care for the infant! We asked to take Yolanda into our orphanage. As she grew, she was “very different” than the other children! She was “mature,” beyond her years. She worked hard and was always helping me and reminding me of any children who had a birthday that month, or any needs that her brothers or sisters had!
She recently finished High School, and in Haiti, there are 13 years of school! She had always watched me prepare for Mobile Clinics, and her dream had always been “to be a nurse!” We just recently heard about a Nursing College in our area, and she was thrilled, because she thought she would be able to go! However, we explained that we just can’t pay for college until we “raise the money in advance.” We told her that next year, as the Lord provides, in advance, the Lord can speak to someone’s heart to sponsor her to go to the new Nursing College right here in our area of Fond Parisien!
We are praying with Yolanda that in the fall, she can see her dream come true! We told her, “Your future job will be waiting for you!” Please keep this sweet young lady in your prayers!
