ANSE-A-VEAU PRISON FEEDING SOUTH HAITI:

Praise Report!

PTL! Tomorrow, Hubert and his Love A Child crew will start feeding everyone every day at the Anse-a-Veau prison. All the food is bought, and we are ready to start!

Hubert, his wife, and the team will actually cook a hot meal daily and serve the food to the prisoners, personally sharing the love of Christ.

We have made a pledge to do this for six months daily, seven days a week, with a beautiful Sunday special meal! Yum!

“Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto Me.” Matthew 25:40

Thank you to our partners for helping make this happen. We are doing this together, making an impact for Christ.

Love is something you do!

“The Best Hiding Place.”

Have you ever been faced with danger? When I was a small child living in Pennsylvania, we lived out in the country. We had a neighbor whose name was Bernie. She was terrified of storms, and each time a storm came, my mother would send me over to her house to stay with her. I was only about 11, but I was not afraid of storms. I was a small, calming force to Bernie.

Fear is a terrible thing. It can make you nervous, give you an irregular heartbeat, and worst of all, it has “torment.” Living in Haiti with gangs all around us, has taught us a lot about being “in the Hands of the Lord.” Satan can never “pluck you out of His hand.” Jesus talks about His sheep in John Chapter 10. I wish I could have been there to hear Jesus say this…

Neither shall any man pluck them out of my Hand. My Father, which gave them to me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s Hand… I and my Father are one.” John 10:28-29

Each day my prayer will be, “Lord, keep me safe in the Palm of Your Hand. No one can pluck me out of Your Hand!!!” It is the best hiding place in the world! Isn’t God good?

Lomene and Widlene

Lomene, left, and Widlene, right, has just graduated from a special college in Haiti that teaches professional cooking! Lomene has completed two years and Widlene has completed one year! Widlene has one more year to go. Next year she will learn how to make those “beautiful wedding cakes,” etc.! For two girls growing up in an orphanage in Haiti, this is a miracle!! Both girls want to thank you, Love A Child partners, for making a difference in their lives! We give all the Glory to God!

Thank you, Bobby and Sherry

Update on Jackson:

This morning, as Bobby was getting dressed for church, I  went to check on Jackson. (Many of you knew that he was very, very sick yesterday.) I could not find Jackson in his room, so I went into the dining room. He was not there and so I looked in the kitchen. The cooks smiled and said, “Oh, Jackson went to church!” Wow! Praise God! He was so sick yesterday and he was crying… his blood pressure had gone up and he was “miserable!” Thank you for praying! We will keep you updated! God is good… all the time!

“Inviting a Guest for Dinner.”

Years ago, here in Haiti, Bobby and I were invited to a party by some of our friends. It was during a “New Year’s Celebration.” I really thought I would enjoy it but there were a lot of rich people there, and we knew none of them. They did not seem to want to talk to “a couple of missionaries,” anyway. I was really glad to get home.

After we had been in Haiti for a few more years, we began to go into the poorest areas of Haiti, bringing the mothers a large box of food and feeding all the children in the area a “big hot plate of food.” The children had on their “best clothes,” which were used, torn, and some clothes were too large for the children. Other children had “slightly dirty clothes,” because it was all they had. I watched each child put a spoonful of food into their mouth, and I watched them eat “every grain of rice,” and then, run their fingers around the rim of the bowl to get every taste that was still “sticking to bowls.” It was really hard for me not to burst into tears.

Jesus said, “When thou make a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, and the blind. And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee; for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection for the just.” Luke 14:13–14

That’s why “you” are reading this scripture. You have a heart for the poor and God’s hand is upon your life.

Update on Jackson:

We know you have been concerned about Jackson. He has been really sick today and “not himself,” but we just checked on him and he is doing better. He had been “really depressed” but he seems to be over that now. He is with his nurse and he just started taking his dialysis. We hope and pray he will be better tomorrow. Thank you for your prayers.

Tall, Beautiful, and Gracious!

Daphlina (Daphline) was born in the mountains of Savaan Roche (we have worked for many years in this remote mountain village). Her mother, Jolucia, died shortly after she was born. Her mother had a nervous breakdown after the death of her husband, “Daphlina’s father.” She only has a few grades to go before she graduates, but for now, she has found a place in our Orphanage kitchen, working with “Nini,” our cook!

She always says her real dream would be to become a “helicopter pilot,” but she can do almost anything! Daphlina is sweet, humble, and intelligent! We really love this young lady, whom we have had since she was a baby! She will always be tall, beautiful, and gracious.

Urgent Prayer for Jackson:

As most of you know, Jackson has been on dialysis 12 hours a night here at the Orphanage. It has been impossible to pass him through the Dominican Republic border to take him to the hospital in Santo Domingo like we have many times in the past. He has been very sick with very high blood pressure, holding his head in pain. Last night, he had a tough night. This morning, early, he was doing much better. Now, in the last hour, he has grown worse again. Sherry just went to find Dr. Bethelemy, who lives here on the property.

Note: His doctor in the D.R. wants his blood pressure checked every two hours and sent to him. His medical people in the D.R. were constantly in contact with his nurses and Jesse before he left. Jackson has suffered so much. We are believing the Lord for a new kidney or a miracle for his health. God answers prayer! Please pray for Jackson.

“It’s Time to Move on!”

In Deuteronomy, the first chapter, the Bible tells us that the Israelites had been in Mt. Horeb for about a year. But, it was time to move on, and now, the “rough stuff” lay ahead of them. The Lord said, “Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount: Turn ye and take your journey…”

God had given them a chance to rest and a chance to know what it is to be free from slavery, but, He came to the point where He had to “push them out of their nest,” so that they would learn how to fight!

Maybe you have been praying for something or perhaps you have been in the same “rut” for a long time… but, nothing has changed. Perhaps, the Lord is speaking to you today, through this message and He is saying, “You have dwelt here too long. It’s time to move on… You’ve got some battles to fight ahead of you, but I will be with you!”

Some people stay in the same job because “they are afraid they cannot get a better job!” They are miserable but, they can’t make that move… There are some precious women, who have been with that man, taking abuse, perhaps verbally or physically, but God is saying, “Enough is enough! It’s time to move on!” But, always remember, “The battle belongs to the Lord, and where He guides, He provides!”

Keep your chin up and your eyes straight ahead! Good things are coming your way!

A Compassionate Heart…

Dear Friends and Partners,

We have worked hard to teach our Haitian children all about “God’s compassion!” It is so important to always keep our hearts open to a “special need.” Dieuferly, who had major health problems as a child, now is a grown young man. We have always taught our two children in the States, and also our Haitian children to have “a heart of compassion.”

We were really touched by the story of a poor, crippled woman with 7 children and a “broken down wheelchair.” Dieuferly, who operates our drone and does camera and TV work, saw this widow with a broken down wheelchair and no place to go, and took care of her with love and compassion… read below his “thank note” to Bobby and me. We are so proud of him, and our orphanage children, and our two grown children in the States. We all must have a “compassionate heart.”

Thank you so much, Mom and Dad, for making it possible today, the lady was so grateful. Amanthe Dorcly Is 41 years old, and she has 7 children. In 2004, she was living in Gonaïve, during the troubles when Aristide had left power, and she was shot in the shoulder, and the bullet hit her spine. She had to enter the Dominican Republic for surgery, and since then she couldn’t walk she stayed in the DR for all this time for medical attention. She was living with her husband Woodbert, who kicked her out with their two babies. When she couldn’t run, the immigration deported her back to Haiti on the Malpasse side, and she found herself homeless, sleeping in a little park at Lasous among the market sellers.

Thank God today we found a lady inside Miracle Village who is willing to receive her in her house and help her. Her wheelchair was not good, Amanthe but now she has a new wheelchair, mattress, and pillows — giving her hope and comfort once again. God is good!
