Kenson, this young man loves to work hard on greasy mechanics and stuff but, when it comes time to get dressed for church, he is “all over it!” All the girls here say, “he has a passion for fashion!” But, he works hard, keeps things clean, and is always here to help!!! His desire at this time is to go to a good mechanic school (and the Lord knows, we need a good mechanic at all times!) He also loves working on the diesel generators.
He is great in school and makes good grades!! He is quiet and studious! He works hard at keeping his room clean! He is respectful of all the women and workers here. And like the rest of our children, he would never argue, or “talk back.” Kenson will go far in his life!!! He is a “likable kid!”
Cilenska was brought to our Jesus Healing Center by her mother. Her father and mother separated since her mother was three months pregnant. Her mother does not have a job and has two other children. She told us that her neighbors sometimes help feed the children, but they have little, also. And, when the neighbors cannot help, the children spend several days without food.
Cilenska, the last child, often does not get food because her mother does not have enough food for all the children and for everyone in the house. Cilenska’s mother often walks miles to find a little water to use at her house and has to pay for that water. When she was explaining to the doctor about her child, the mother said, with tears in her eyes… “For the miseries I am going through, I think I would kill myself.”
After the consultation, the doctor sent baby Cilenska to our Malnutrition Clinic. Her weight is only 5.4 kilos. But, the baby also has a fever, stomach ache, and diarrhea. She has not walked in over a week.
Cilenska is in good hands now, but her mother still struggles without the help of her husband. It is a lonely, sad life for this mother and her children… let’s see what the Lord will do for this mother, who has “no way out.”
Thank you, partners, for your prayers, love, and support for our Malnutrition Clinic. It is saving lives!
Thank you, we distributed 43,900 Feed My Starving Children meals yesterday in Old Letant. It was such a great joy! Thank you to our friends who all made this possible. We are working together to feed the hungry. I pray that we can do much more together. Love is something you do!
We all get impatient. We pray and we expect the Lord to “snap his fingers” and get the job done, now. But we must remember that “God’s timing is perfect and He has a reason for every second that ticks by.”
The Word says, “Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.” Micah 7:7
Waiting patiently on the Lord may be the hardest thing you have ever done. In I Samuel 15:14, King Saul could not wait for the Prophet Samuel to come and make a sacrifice, so he decided to do it, himself. Because of this, the Lord was angry and that day, the Kingdom was taken from Saul and given unto David. Don’t be in a hurry. Wait on the Lord. “God’s plan is worth the wait.”
All of our children have wonderful qualities and are “good-looking kids!” Rebecca is no exception. She has long, thick, beautiful black hair. She is light in color, which makes us think she is part Dominican. In addition, she has the “body-build” of an Olympic Athlete! She has strong bones.
Rebecca is just as beautiful as she is smart! She loves sports, basketball, and soccer…but, she also loves to “jump-rope!” She is now 13 and wants to be a dentist. Rebecca was rescued by one of our workers when she was just three. Apparently, her mother and father had died, and she was on the verge of being sold to a man at the age of three! Our worker was so angry that he made arrangements for us to “buy her off” from her relatives! Today, she is just “another one of our babies!”
Rebecca wants to be a dentist!! She is kind, gentle, and hardworking. (Here, you see her polishing the “bifets” (closets) in the girls’ room. She loves the Lord and loves to lead in the song service each night. And oh, yes, her brothers and sisters have a nickname for her, “Duck!”
Our painters are painting the outside, and the inside is finished. Here is Yonel and Dieubon two of our children painting. They love to work!
The move-in date for the medical staff is September 1st! This building will keep everyone safe throughout the week. They all do such a great job! The need has been met.
What a joy feeding the children a hot meal in the village of Old Letant today. Oh, were they happy! Thank you, Jesus! Thank you, friends, and partners, for helping make this happen. We did this together!
Three huge pots of hot food. Including Feed My Starving Children meals, plus we cooked fish, big onions, fresh peppers. Yum!!!
Lots more to come this afternoon or later in the evening.
Matthew 25:40 when we do it unto the least of these little ones, you have done it unto me.
There was in a city a judge, which fears not God, neither regarded man: (he was a tough old bird!) And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me (help me against,) my adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming, she weary me.” Luke 18:2 – 4
By the way, the scripture reads, she didn’t just “knock one time.” She drove the judge crazy! She would not let him sleep. She was always “knocking!”
We live in an orphanage with 85 kids and 20 plus employees. We have a little space upstairs with two doors—one in the living room and a door in our prayer room. There is always a knock on one of the doors! Sometimes, Bobby says, “Baby, leave it alone. They will go away.” And I say, “No, they won’t…they will just go to the other door!” Ha. It has gotten so that we can tell the different kid’s and adult’s knocks, but one thing is for sure, if they need something, they will knock until they get an answer.
That is how our Heavenly Father is. But never think that He is wearied with you. He just wants to see if you have “persistent faith!” Faith will open that door!!! So, if you need a prayer answered, do what the widow did to the unjust judge or as our kids do… “just keep on knocking!!!” God is on the other side of the door, waiting to help!!!
Today, we passed out more Feed My Starving Children meals in another village 10 minutes from where we live. They were so thankful! Each box contained 216 meals of rice, carrots, peas, onions, and much more. Tomorrow, we will be in another village called Old Letant giving out meals. In this village, we will not only give out the boxes of meals but also cook a hot meal for over 200 children while personally serve them.
Love is something you do!
Thank you for all your help, and for being a part of this…
Brothers James and Kidney lost their mother in childbirth, and their father could not take care of them. So we took James and Kidney into our orphanage, and they have been a blessing! Kidney, his older brother, helps run the equipment at our Love A Child Radio station. He will be going to college to study communications.
James was always quiet and sweet. He loved the pigeons at our orphanage, so the kids nicknamed him “ti pigeon,” or little pigeon!
James took another route. Although he was a great cameraman (a natural talent), he wanted more. He chose to study accounting and economics. He is attending INUKA UNIVERSITY in Port au Prince. He is doing great!!! James loves to play jokes on people. But he is never interested in hearing anything bad about anyone! (I wish all Christians were like that!)
