Update Dieuferly Is in Surgery

Dr. Victor Rosario just sent us this picture. The doctors just started surgery! This is a very complicated procedure. Our first two doctors would not do the surgery. We have heard Dr. Victor is the best. Please pray for Dieuferly’s surgery. There is power in prayer.

God bless RL, Vanessa, his wife, Philimond, and Joker, who has been with us since yesterday.

Love is something you do!

Update on Dieuferly

We are still here at the hospital in the Dominican Republic. It is really well organized, nice and clean. Everyone seems to really care about the patients.

They have done all of Dieuferly’s pre-op stuff, and as soon as the doctor arrives, he will go into surgery. The surgery will take about two hours. He will probably spend the night, and we may be able to take him back to Haiti tomorrow.

We really feel that we have a great surgeon for such a complicated task. After this foot heals, another surgery will be scheduled. It will be wonderful to know that Dieuferly will not suffer as he has in the past. We do appreciate your love and prayers.

Another Baby…It’s a Boy! Or Is It?

We just got these adorable pictures from our Birthing Center! This glowing mother is so proud of her baby! She comes from a very poor area. She would never have had the opportunity to have her baby in a beautiful clinic, with Christian music playing and rocking chairs on the porch for “nervous dads and grandmas.” The best doctors, nurses, and midwives, all the medicine she would need, as well as a beautiful recovery room and food to eat. Finding a Birthing Center that provides a Birth Certificate in Haiti is almost impossible, but it is something else we do!

Now, we see this adorable baby boy. Oops! We just found out that “he” is a “she!” I think we need more baby “girl” clothes!  If you have some or want to buy some, that would be a blessing.

And, if you would like to help sponsor this beautiful Birthing Center, we need monthly support to meet our $20,000 monthly budget. We only have $5,000 towards it. If you are interested, please visit our website, or call (239) 210-6107. To learn more about Love A Child, visit our website at: www.loveachild.com

Thank you!

Word from the Mission Field

“Nothing Happens by Accident!”

All through the Bible, people who were to be used by God or blessed by God always happened to be “in the right place at the right time.” Perhaps the circumstances of “being in the right place at the right time” were not “heavenly experiences.”

Moses had just murdered an Egyptian. How could God possibly use someone who had “murdered someone?” Moses had fled for his life and ended up in a country where a man named Jethro had seven daughters! While these daughters were feeding the flocks, some shepherds came and bothered the ladies and drove away the flocks… But Moses was in the “right place at the right time” and drove away the shepherds, gaining a “father-in-law” and a wife!! One day, while he was keeping the flock for his “father-in-law,” he saw a great bush burning, and it would not be extinguished. It just kept burning. He approached this great burning bush to see “what was keeping it burning?” This is when the Lord God of Israel spoke to him and let him know how he, Moses, would lead God’s people out of Egyptian bondage! Nothing happens by accident!!!

God puts people, and God puts “you,” in the right place at the right time, because “nothing happens by accident!”

“For as the Heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9

“Nothing happens by accident!” God is always on time. He’s never late and He never makes a mistake! Have a great day!!! Sherry

Widlene, She Loves to Cook!

Widlene and her sister, Esther, were brought to us by their mother, Madamn Jesula. Their father had died and Madamn Jesula was so sick, she thought she would die. She wanted us to take care of her children when she died. I told her, “Your name is Jesula. It means ‘Jesus is here,’ and if Jesus is here, you won’t die.” We put her mother in a hospital and cared for her and brought her and her children to our orphanage. We gave her mother a job and put her children through school.

Now Widlene is about to finish her first year of college. She is studying “Administration.” She “loves to cook!” She is always trying new recipes out on the orphanage children!! I told her, “You will be a good cook because you love to eat!” Ha!” Widlene is precious! She loves the Lord and we love her!

Thank You For Praying for Jackson and Dieuferly

Sherry and I want to thank you for praying for little Jackson and Dieuferly.

It means a lot to us. The power of prayer works!

The Story of Jackson:

Little Jackson, we found when we were doing a Mobile Medical Clinic in a very remote part of Haiti called “Savaan Pite.” His stomach was extremely huge, and he was full of water. He had kwashiorkor malnutrition. He would have been dead by now, no doubt.

We took him to the hospital and then to our Children’s Home to watch over him. He had no Mom or Dad. We found out later that Jackson had severe kidney problems caused by the kwashiorkor malnutrition. We pray that the Lord touches him and gives him a “long life!” We love him very much. We want to thank the special family who helped sponsor Jackson’s medical care. He is preparing for dialysis.

The Story of Dieuferly:

Sherry and I rode a mule nine hours one way to do a Mobile Medical Clinic in a remote area of Haiti, high in mountains, called Covant, Haiti. It was so far out, and it felt spooky; I was a little scared. They were even scared of us! We were the first white people they have ever seen. Since then, we have built a church and school there. We met Dieuferly there. He was just a little tiny boy you could carry around with one arm.

He had severe club feet, and no doubt if we left him there, he would not live. He came from a family of nine children. The husband had died. They had nothing but Jesus! So we brought him back with us by mule.

He has had three botched surgeries. We built his mother a house and moved her and some of his family into Miracle Village. Dieuferly has lived with us ever since in our Children’s Home. He is now living in the older boy’s house on our land, transitioning into real life.
We are now with him in Santo Domingo, preparing for his surgery tomorrow.

Please continue to be in prayer. Thank you to the two special people who made this operation financially possible.

Love is something you do.

Update on Jackson

As many of you know, Jackson is being prepared for dialysis in Haiti. He came to a point where he just could not continue without some major change in his healthcare. Dr. Barthelemy says that Jackson has no pain, but he is waiting for his last exam (kidney, complete blood count, etc.) before the dialysis sessions begin. He goes for dressing changes every three days.

Many of you know that we brought Jackson home from the mountains of Haiti with a huge, bloated stomach and kwashiorkor malnutrition. That is why his kidneys are giving him so much trouble. So please remember him in your prayers.

At this moment, Bobby and I are in the Dominican Republic with Dieuferly, getting ready for his “double club feet surgery” probably tomorrow. Dieuferly has suffered many years in pain after several bad surgeries in Haiti. He is scheduled to go to surgery tomorrow.

We wish to thank everyone for their prayers and support of our “Love A Child” children.

“I set my face as a flint.”

“For the Lord will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded; therefore have I set my face like a flint and I know that I shall not be ashamed.” Isaiah 50:7

This prophecy came forth out of the mouth of the Messiah through the Lord’s prophet, Isaiah. But what is a flint? A flint is one of the hardest stones in the world. It has been used to start fires. When Isaiah prophesied this, it means that Jesus knew about His persecution and torture that He would endure. He “set His face like a flint.” Nothing could deter Him… Even when He was on the cross, He could have called 10,000 angels to come to His rescue, but He set His face towards His Father and endured.

Today, do you “set your face as a flint” to obey or, do you “chicken out” at the last moment? Is there something you must do? “Set your face as a flint!” Do not look to the left or right and do not listen to anyone! Just do it! The Lord is right beside you!

Christian… A Smile A Yard Wide!

Christian’s mother died when he was a small child, perhaps two, or three. His mother was put in prison. The Department of Social Services brought him to us. From the moment we saw him, we fell in love with his bright eyes. When he was about six, we found out he had a “great talent” for singing. We took him to Mache Mirak during a crusade and that little thing stood up on the stage, unafraid, and sang with a great anointing!

Now, he is in his teens and is playing the keyboard and singing. He has a smile a “yard wide!” He is always sweet, smiling, and ready to work! I love that!! He still sings and he plays the keyboard. I asked him what he wanted to be and he replied, “an engineer!” There ya go! Another child with a “dream” to make something of his life in Haiti, despite the gangs, the shootings, the rising prices of food, and all other obstacles.

I believe the Lord will help Christian to become a great engineer!! Thank you, partners, for changing another life!
