The people of Fond Parisien want liberty for Ganthier and Fond Parisien!! The gangs ran 2,000 families from their homes in Ganthier. The 400 Mawozo gang wants to destroy Fond Parisien and Love A Child. None of us are going to let the gangs just wander in here and take over.
Be looking for the whole story from today and much better pictures later today.
Love is something you do! The Lord put this within my heart several years ago. Actually, the whole thought that the Lord gave me was this… Faith is not something you just talk about, but faith is something you do. Love is not something you talk about, but love is something you do!
“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” James 2:26
“Let all your things be done with charity (love).” 1 Corinthians 16:14
1st Corinthians the 13th chapter is the love chapter!
You may look at this young boy, working and smiling and you think, “He’s got to be in fourth or fifth grade!” The trouble is, Jonas had never had a birthday so he doesn’t know how old he is. We rescued him from continuing to work in the heat of the sun as a “restavek!” In Haiti, when a child’s parents die, he must go to live with a relative, and he or she will become a slave child or restavek. This child will work hard, will receive many beatings, will always be a slave, and never go to school!
When we rescued Jonas, he was so afraid! He had never “had a shower,” where it rained “inside!” He had never slept in a bed or had a toy. He had never had a “hug!” He was so “scared!” It took almost two years for him to learn how to hold a pencil or pen! We had to give him a birthday date and age, so he is considered ten now. He had to go to Kindergarten for two years and now he will be in first grade. The most difficult thing for him was learning how to “hold a pencil.” Jonas is sweet, kind, and thoughtful… and thankful!
Our Haitian kids are “driving us nuts!” They are anxiously waiting to go back to school. We know that many schools in the States have already opened and more will start soon. But here in Haiti, due to the gangs, schools will not start until October 1st!
We have all been through so much stress in the last two years due to the gangs. We were so blessed to have Jesse Ostrander come to Love A Child and bring school backpacks, tee shirts, underwear, etc! We still have lots to buy and perhaps five more pairs of shoes! (Some were measured incorrectly so we are still waiting on a few more!)
Special thanks to those of you who donated funds for the school backpacks! We still have to buy “blue socks” to match their uniforms, notebooks, pencils, pens, and hair-ribbons! (And… be sure to notice that all the girls had to have their hair extensions!) We will be so happy when the “first day of school” arrives! Thank you, partners!
I don’t like riding in small airplanes or small boats. I have been in both and have had bad experiences, but God brought me through!!
Years ago, Bobby decided to get his “airplane license” so that he could go to Haiti and other islands to preach the gospel. Bobby has a good “head on his shoulders,” but he had only gotten his “private license.” He could fly VFR, which is when you can read the map and see where you are going. But he had not yet gotten his IFR, which is where you fly by instruments. As he was learning to fly, his instructor taught him one very good lesson… “Always trust your instruments instead of what you see or feel.” The reason for that is when you are flying, the skyline and the ocean can blend together. You cannot determine where the line is, and many people lose their lives “by not trusting their instruments.”
One time, Bobby had to fly over the Gulf of Mexico late at night. There was a bad storm and some of the lights on his instrument panel went out. He could not find his flashlight. There was just enough light to see his instruments. He remembered what his instructor had told him… “Don’t go by what you see or feel or think. Trust your instruments and ride out the storm.”
In Matthew 14:24, Jesus had gone up into a mountain to pray. His disciples were gone before him and into a ship. “But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.”
Jesus was about to teach them a great lesson. In life, we will have many storms, but we must learn to “ride out the storm” because the “Master of Storm” will always be there with us. In life, we will surely face storms, but we cannot run from them. “Follow your spiritual instruments of faith in the Word of God,” and you will ride out the storm! Sherry
I remember the day like it was “yesterday.” Mark Crea came to Haiti with a “Feed My Starving Children” team! We were in the village of Old Letant! Bobby was interviewing Mark for our TV program. I was back near a hut.
I watched as a woman picked up a dirty toddler by “one arm” and dropped him on the ground, naked, in the heat of the sun… next to a big hog!!
I watched as the little toddler sat on his heels with his knees on the ground. Kids went by and smacked him on the head and called him names… one name was “Pa benzoin-ou.” (I don’t need you; I don’t want you!)
I had tears in my eyes with extreme anger in my heart! I knew his mother, and I wanted to “punch her lights out!” I picked up the naked child, and he threw his arms tightly around my neck! When I came to her hut, I said, “Your child will die, but I can take him, and he will live.”
“Take him,” she said!
“Take him!” She said she wanted to put clothes on him, but I told her, “It was fine,” because I had clothes. I hurried toward the truck, and we took off.
It wasn’t long before “Nelson” started to walk and run and do “flips and cartwheels!”
Today, Nelson is 13, going into the 7th grade, does a great job keeping our yard clean, and always wants to help! I have learned to listen to the “still small voice!”
That “still small voice” will always lead you to do the right thing.
We are so proud of our medical team from our “Jesus Healing Center.” Despite the gangs and the threats, our devoted team has no intentions of leaving or abandoning their post! They are still here, taking on the worst cases imaginable! Some patients require a “lot of care,” but no one is in a hurry. These doctors do everything with all their hearts! They could have left when so many other employees left, on the “Biden plan,” but they didn’t!
Our clinic workers are steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, “forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” I Cor. 15:58
What you are looking at now is a wonderful group of professionals who really love the poor!
We are thankful to “Joyce Meyer Ministries—Hand of Hope” for sponsoring our Jesus Healing Center Clinic financially each month! We are “so blessed!!”
We have the most beautiful clinic and the best workers, and we are blessed to have Joyce Meyer Ministries—Hand of Hope sponsoring this clinic, especially “at such a time as this!”
That’s what some people say, when they are in the midst of a trial. But, it’s not easy to get away from the loving arms of God… “Thou compasseth my path and my lying down and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but lo, oh Lord, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy Spirit?” Psalm 139:3-7
In your pain, you cannot hide in a hole. God sees your heart and He loves you, and He will get you through this! Now, offer your hands to Heaven and thank Him for loving you so much.
This evening, our Love A Child orphanage kids got to go “out for pizza and ice cream” at Dieuferly’s restaurant, called Fresh Foods (formerly Epidor). This beautiful restaurant is located at our “Mache Mirak.” You will recall that this past week, all of our Haitian orphanage children worked for days, in our “Food Distribution Center” warehouse, packing food for the big food distribution for the people of Ganthier (they had been run out of their homes by the gangs).
Our children worked all day in the warehouse, for days, packing food for the hungry Ganthier families. So, this evening, we loaded up the kids and took them out for pizza, cokes, and ice cream! They had a ball!! It is a rare thing for them all to go to the restaurant together! They talked, laughed, and ate pizza and drank cokes. Then, they got ice cream cones! It was a well-deserved treat! God blesses us in “many ways” when we give and help the poor! Thank you, partners, for sponsoring the big “Food Distribution” for the poor!
Ti David (little David), is a tough little guy but so sweet and hard-working!! David was the 7th child of his parents but they could not care for another child. A kind neighbor tried to care for the baby but with her own children, there was no way. So, we were contacted to ask if we would take him in. David is a great soccer player!! He is good with smaller children! He is a hard-working young boy! He is not lazy and anything he does, he does it well!!
He will be in the 5th grade… he’s very intelligent! David’s dream is to be a mechanic! There’s no doubt he will be a good one! We’re saving a job for him!! We all love Ti David very much!!
