Getting Ready for the Next Big Feeding Program…

Despite the gangs and the threats, the poor in Haiti are still hungry! We are getting ready for another “big” food distribution, as we did last week, for 500 other families from Ganthier.

When you give, the Lord multiplies the loaves and fishes!! All those hungry families that we fed last week were “praising the Lord for the food that was multiplied to them!” They had been “run out of their homes by the gangs…”

They walked many miles and came to our area, sleeping under trees, in people’s yards, and on the side of the road!

With your help, we will also be feeding 500 hungry families this week!

Thank you, partners, for feeding hungry families last week. With your help, we will do it again.

Stand, when all and everyone is against you…

The story of Job is a great story in the Bible. The story was written even before the Bible. In Job’s day, he had no Christian radio, Christian TV, or even a Christian church to attend… No Christian books or any literature to read. He only believed in an invisible God. All of the other people worshipped idols built by the hands of man.

Satan hated Job! I want to encourage you this week to read the book of Job. Satan told God, “If you take all of Job’s blessings away, then Job will not serve you.” You know the story… Job lost everything. He lost 500 oxen, 7,000 sheep, houses, family… He lost everything.

On top of this, Job was smitten with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto the crown of his head. “And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.” (Job 2:8)

Job’s own wife told her husband, “Curse God, and die.” (Job 2:9)

All of Job’s friends had left him; everyone. Yet, in the middle of all of this, Job said, “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.” (Job 19:25-26)

The Lord brought Job through his trial… “So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses. He had also seven sons and three daughters.” (Job 42:12-13)

The Lord gave Job a “double portion” of what he had lost. The Lord is about to do the same for you!

Rodna, Zoey, and Ericka… “Automatic Girls”

We go through washing machines like you can’t believe! We have a couple of “retired” ones sitting in the cement area by our driveway. I could not understand why we go through so many washing machines. We bought most of them in the Dominican Republic and I thought they were good.

We have about 80-plus people here and that is a lot of laundry! But, we have always had lots of laundry. With us today, are Rodna, Zoey, and Ericka. They never complain about washing clothes by hand… so, what was the problem with the washing machines?

I have recently had to send someone out to buy “likid” or “liquid.” This is a washing liquid that the ladies had been using for washing dishes and certain clothing items. But I just realized that they had been dumping a cup of the cheap stuff into the automatic washing machines, “which makes lots of suds” but causes the washing machine to have a heart attack!

Haitians do not understand that “just a little bit” can do the trick! They had been dumping a lot of the cheap “likid” (liquid) into our machines! Wow! That was the problem! I had to send someone across the border and into the Dominican Republic to get the real “laundry detergent” for automatic machines! So, in the meantime, I have substituted three of my “automatic girls” for three of the washing machines that have gone out! Ha!!!

The Quiet Twin!

Mika is the twin to Mikalange. Mikalange is “east from west” from Mika. Mika is quiet and studious and seldom gets into trouble. But her twin, “Mikalange,” is on my “No Fly List!” Ha!

Mika loves to cook! She is usually in the kitchen preparing beans, making some spices for the meals, or trying a new recipe! She is not an “outdoorsy” girl. She doesn’t care about soccer unless it’s a team playing. She’s sweet and courteous, always looking to help. She is 17 years old and will be in her Rheto class, which is the next to last class before graduation. (Haiti has 13 grades.) Mika will go far in her life! We love her!

FAR UP THE MOUNTAIN!

Food is coming!

Today is a holiday here in Haiti. We had an emergency request for food from “Confidence Health Center” four hours away, high up in the mountain in the community called Oriani.

What’s happening is that Fond Parisen, where we are, has blocked all trucks from coming down the mountain to travel into Port Au Prince to sell their farm products. It’s harvest time there, but no one can sell their harvest, so no one has money to buy food. The gangs make all their money by charging the poor farmers a lot of money for their big box trucks to pass through their area.

When Fond Parisien blocked the trucks from coming, the 400 Mawozo gang blocked the big bridge just outside of Ganthier. Today I heard the gang bridge has opened for traffic to come through. But I’m hearing Fond Parisien will keep the road here blocked.

I hope they will open the road here. If not, Fond Parisien could have a big fight on their hands by the weekend from the 400 Mawozo.

Note: Many people have left our area and fled up to the mountains. Now there are many hundreds of families hungry there. Matt. 25:40

Word from the Mission Field

Stay on course:

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith…” 11 Timothy 4:7 – Apostle Paul said these words. I’ve gone too far to turn back now!

It’s important to stay on course, keeping our eyes on Jesus. So many circumstances and people try to pull us off course.

Don’t be discouraged, stay on course! Read verse 8 and look what we will receive!

Cooking Up Something Special!

Ada is now 18 years old and will be going to her last class in the fall, “Philo.” This is the 13th year of school, and it is difficult to pass. But Ada is confident and will do just fine! Ada and her sister and brother came to us years ago. We were told their parents lost their lives when their small boat capsized, as they tried to make it to the States. Ada loves music and “praise dances.” But even more, she loves to cook!! She has not yet decided about what she will become, but she knows that the Lord will open doors. She really is close to her “sisters,” and loves to be in the kitchen cooking up something special! She will go far in her life. Sherry

Updated Haiti news in our area:

Urgent news:

This is the town of Ganthier, which is 8 miles from us. Ganthier was the seat for all business and government affairs. The mayor’s office, city hall much more. It had schools, churches, businesses, and a thriving community. 2,000 families who have worked hard for a long time to obtain their little house lost everything. The former mayor told me that some people did not make it out, like the elderly, and the dogs have gone into some homes and eaten the dead. The whole town is no more, the gang owns Ganthier. We are feeding many of the families who fled to Fond Parisien. Our hearts are broken, such sweet people.

Read this carefully.

The headquarters of the 400 Mawozo gang is just 4 miles west of Ganthier! Lamou Sa Jou’s house is there, and most of his videos are taken from inside his house. He walks around in broad daylight with no fear.

Question: Why hasn’t he and his headquarters been attacked and destroyed by the Haitian government?

Fond Parisien and Love A Child are just 8 miles east of Ganthier. Mawozo is threatening to come here next.

Between this weekend and the next are important days. SOS! We need backup from the government.

Kenya would help, but their armored vehicles were not made to fight. Whoever ordered Kenya’s equipment had to be an idiot.

They want to fight but do not have the proper equipment after all the months of planning. I have never seen such an ill-planned operation with so much money involved.

Be advised: Fond Parisien is ready to fight and defend. Here at Love A Child, we have beefed up our security with the best. We will not let these people come in and touch our orphan children. We could run, but we are done watching everyone run! More security is coming.

Haiti is held hostage by the gangs. This must stop. Please pray for Haiti, its government, the people, and the wonderful children who are the future of Haiti.

Standing on Psalms 91 and Isaiah 43:2

We need your prayers and support more than ever.

Thank you for standing with us.

We love you…

LET JESUS’ LIGHT SHINE!

“Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

If you set a city on a hill, all will see the city when the lights are on. If we light a candle, we don’t put it under a box but on a candlestick. This way all in the house will have light. When we do good works, all will see the light of Christ. Here in Haiti, when we feed the poor, clothe the naked, and help those who are sick, people see what the Lord is doing. Glorify the Lord! Let your light shine before men, that they may see Jesus!
