“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, andloving favor rather than silver and gold.” Proverbs 22:1
Some people die with great riches, but their names are not worth anything. They have cheated, lied, and have done bad things to other people. Some people would rather have silver and gold than the favor of God. If we have the favor of God in our lives, then the Lord brings blessings into our lives.
One day of favor from the Lord is worth a thousand days of labor!
He is quiet and you never know when “he is here!” He is the brother of Fabiola. When his mother died, his father could not care for him and his sister. After his mother died, the children were often left by themselves. They were developing malnutrition. His father took both children to Social Services, who brought them to our orphanage.
Wilguens is now 12 and wants to be a mechanic! He is “very intelligent!” Due to his quiet disposition and slow-moving ways, the kids call him “Grandpa!” He is a sweet but serious kid! I guess we’ll keep him! Ha!
Here is pastor Mark Ostrander and his Haitian construction dream team making the concrete pads to lock down the soccer bleachers. He always works on two or three projects at one time. Mark is on our board of directors and is a genius builder.
He has made over 600 trips to Haiti, blessing the people. He loves the Haitians. His wife, Evie, has been here many times. Behind every good man, there is a good woman! Love is something you do!
Love A Child travels all throughout Haiti preaching the gospel with their words and actions. The hardships they witness while serving are unimaginable. One mother lost her spouse and then her home; she was forced into survival mode to protect what she had left, with no time to grieve. Families are used to hunger; they work all day on empty stomachs, going through the motions, hoping and praying for relief. With your support, our resources, and God’s vision, we are able to provide them a reprieve from their suffering!

In the Book of Deuteronomy, God gave instructions to the children of Israel. In Chapter 15: 7-8, the Lord God of Israel gave instructions on “how to care for the poor.” This is what He said, “If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother: But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.”
God may put you in the grocery line of a poor family. You may see the mother carefully counting her change. You may see the look on her face as the cashier asks her “What she wants to put back?” And you may see the tears in the eyes of the children… What will you do?
Zachary is definitely a “mama’s boy!” He has been attached to me since he could walk! He is a very unusual little guy! He is happy and content but doesn’t want to talk much! He just finished third year Kindergarten. The little boys and girls were lined up in church to do their Kindergarten program. All the children were doing a special “dance” going up the aisle, but Zachary cried all the way! (He would have rather “sat with Mommie Sherry” and ditched the presentation!)
He is a miracle because his “Voodoo” mother had plans to kill him! We rescued him! Zachary will go far in life!! He’s a keeper!
Wow! WOW! What a game in Miracle Village between Ganthier and Le Tant!! Le Tant won yesterday. Most Haitians have nothing to look forward to or anywhere to go because of the gangs.
The youth are the future of Haiti. These bleachers give them hope, dignity, and respect like normal people. This is a great project for the youth of the entire area. We are all happy!
Thank you to an anonymous donor who sponsored the soccer bleachers to be made and shipped to Haiti. Thank you, Jesse Ostrander, for traveling to the factory to oversee the building of the bleachers.
In the middle of roadblocks, gangs, and insecurity, life goes on. One thing we know… “Babies Can’t Wait!” Babies don’t know that the roads are blocked, and in most areas, armed gangs with high-powered guns are waiting to kidnap or kill. This is what mothers like Madamn Love-Mika go through, just to get to a safe place to deliver a baby!
This poor mother did not pay for anything! It was all a gift from God! And after her baby was born, she was blessed with a box of clothing, diapers, and other items! In the midst of our “distress,” God is there! Special thanks to Nell Peacock and the many other mothers that have been sending in baby items, clothing, blankets, etc.!! What would we do without you? Thank you so much!
My precious mother, who has gone to be with the Lord, used to quote this verse to me and to anyone else going through a trial. When you are being tested, you feel alone. You feel as though no one understands what you are going through, and sometimes, you get the feeling of being abandoned, even by the Lord.
Jeremiah was the Lord’s prophet… to the children of Israel… The Lord was warning them that if they could not stand when small trials came, they would never be able to go through the big ones…
When I would complain about any small trial, my mother would say, “If thou hast run with the footmen (soldiers on foot), and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? (soldiers on horses) And if, in the day of peace, wherein thou trustiest, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?” Jer. 12:5
It means that if you cannot stand during the “small battle,” then how will you stand when the big one comes? That small battle you face is making you strong and making you depend on the real “Captain, Jesus!” It is all part of God’s plan to make you “tough!” And, the Lord has confidence in you, and He will pull you through!
So, start praising the Lord through this trial… He has never left you, never will! Sherry
Kenzy Chery is just a different little boy. Kenzy’s mother died during childbirth. A kind Haitian Pastor from far away mountains walked down with this baby in his arms. Kenzy had a bad skin infection but is doing better now. He was so “sickly” for a long, long time. He was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia. He has had several blood transfusions but is doing better now.
This quiet little guy is seven years old and just finished 1st grade. He helps with “picking up trash” and rocks.
His favorite toy is a remote-controlled car he got last Christmas. He is a “keeper!”
