Nelson is Growing Up!

Looking at this young, hardworking, intelligent young boy, you would never believe that when we found him, he could not walk. Raised with a father deep in Voodoo, he had many problems. He could not walk. I saw his mother pick him up by one arm and drop him on the ground, beside the family hog! He was naked, hot, and hungry. The children would walk by and smack him on the head and call him a name that means “we don’t want you,” in Creole. I picked him up and he wrapped his arms around my neck. I found his parents and told him “That if he were left here, he will die.” They let me take him back to our orphanage. We bought him a tiny tricycle. He pushed it around and his legs grew stronger!! He began to walk!

Nelson is now 14 and has dreams for his future! He is very intelligent and hardworking!! We must always “listen with our heart,” to hear the voice of the Lord! If we do not, we will miss what God wants us to do. Thank you, partners!!

Let’s Go to Work!

With lots of kids in an orphanage, we have “lots of kids” to get the work done! Bobby and I are on the top floor, and, “hearing a lot more noise than usual,” I decided to take a peek out! I saw mops, brooms, and kids, scrubbing, singing, and “sliding!” (They are just having a hard time finding the “down arrow,” on the volume button!!)

They are scrubbing the floors with more suds than I have seen in a while! However, those “soap suds,” provide a great way to “slide” and have fun while singing and working!! The “big guy,” with a smile is Camy!! He’s kinda like a gentle army sergeant! We love our kids and want them to grow up “willing to work hard!” Have a “nice, quiet day!” ha!

“Who Can You Put Your Trust In?”

I’m sure everyone has been “let down,” by someone in their life. You put your trust or confidence in someone and you get your heart crushed. Now, you feel as though you can’t trust anyone. David must have felt the same way. His own son, Absalom, had turned against him. Maybe that’s why David in the Psalm, said “Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.” Psalm 146:3

But then he said, “Happy is the man that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord.” Psalm 146:5

Widlene…

We are so proud of Widlene! She and her sister, Esther, have been with us since Widlene was about four or five. After Widlene graduated from Philo, (13th grade), she knew she wanted to be a “professional cook!” She has been in college now for two years, and doing good!

She is now “learning how to make very delicate food items and anything you can think of.” Two days ago, she and some other students had to prepare “crevasse” shrimp” and prepare a beautiful table for special happenings. But “Widlene” is always cooking something!

Each child we have raised excels in “something!” God has kept His hands on these children in our Love A Child Orphanage! They will be “Haiti’s Future!” God bless all our wonderful friends!!!

Fania gives birth to a baby girl in prison:

Fania, one of 17 women in jail in Anse-a-Veau, south Haiti, gave birth to a baby girl on the cold concrete floor with no bedding whatsoever.

Hubert and the faithful Love A Child crew in the south of Haiti responded immediately and provided our emergency blankets, diapers, food, and supplies to help Fania and her unnamed infant. Hubert put one woman in charge of making sure Fania eats every day, leaving two bags of rice, beans, and cooking oil to provide at least one square meal a day.

Please pray for Fania and her beautiful baby daughter for God to continue to supply all she needs. The burden of Haiti is heavy, but the shoulders of Jesus are big enough to help us carry the load. Please pray and give today so that we can continue to help the helpless people of Haiti.

Love is something you do!

Word From the Mission Field…

“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this deal, The Lord knoweth them that are His…” – II Tim. 2:19

No matter where we are, or where we are going… no matter if we are in the biggest crowd, or sitting in a big baseball game of thousands, we all “stick out” because “the Lord knoweth them that are His!”

Many times here in Haiti, we take our orphanage children to a crusade at our Mache Mirak, where thousands attend… but we “know where all our Haitian children are!” We don’t let them out of our sight. As parents, you never let your kids out of your sight! The Lord is always “watching over His kids” too. He even knows “how many hairs are on our head!” He knows more about us than our doctors do! Why? Because “we belong to Him!”

Aren’t you glad He never takes His eyes “off His children!”

“The Lord knoweth them that are His.” Have a blessed day.

The Two Bobbys!

“Ti Bobby” or “Little Bobby” lost his mother soon after he was born. His father also died. His grandfather told his teenage sister to find a home for him. She found “us,” and “Bobby” has been with us since then. Bobby “loves” mechanic work and anything “electrical!”

In our children’s nightly service here at the orphanage, he plays bass guitar. When he’s not busy, he is playing soccer! He is testing now for his last grade. (Haitian children have 13 years.) Bobby is still giving a lot of thought about his future, but in the meantime, he is “giving back” and working hard here at the orphanage. Let’s see what doors will open for him!

Thank you, partners, who have supported our Love A Child Children for years. They are the “hope for Haiti!”

A TRUCKLOAD OF FRESH VEGETABLES FOR THE CHILDREN!

Our Agricultural Training Center (ATC) guys brought to our Orphan’s Home a truckload of vegetables they had grown. Oh, the children are happy. Sherry and I are happy we live with the children! Yum! Sherry and I have a fresh mango or a fresh papaya for breakfast every morning. Nothing like a fresh Haitian mango!

Our ATC School teaches other Haitians how to grow successful crops for their families and make a living.

This is a Sustainability project teaching Haitians how to help themselves. Teaching Haitians in some areas how to turn sandy, bad, rocky soil into growing fresh vegetables is a wonderful feeling. Wilner, you and your team are great!

Thank you, “Hope Seeds International,” for all your wonderful donations of seeds. David Balsbaugh, our friend, is the President. Thank you to Joe Perkins and Ron Lusk at Sustainable Food Production for all the great shade houses. Rad Hazelip was the father of the vision! Love you!
