A Child Dies…
Even though some of the main “Papaya Gang” leaders have been captured, the rest of the large number of gang members still commit crimes. Our Jesus Healing Center just a day ago received several cases as a result of the Papaya Gangs! This happened when the gangs blocked the road. Anoise Franky, age 22, is a motorcycle driver. This is the only job he has. He had not been able to eat for several days because he could not go outside due to the gangs. So, he took his motorcycle and tried to go out to make some money anyway, but the gangs were shooting! Trying to get away, he collided with another motorcycle. He was severely fractured in his head, neck, and forehead. After treatment, we stabilized him and sent him to a Hospital with our ambulance. We expect many accidents, as motorcycle drivers run from the gangs.
A Small Child and a Father of Five…
Just as our one ambulance was coming back, Alisma Gerlius, age 33, was brought to our Jesus Healing Center. He is the father of five children. He transports passengers to Fond Verette, far in the mountains. He was transporting people in his van and when he reached the area where the gangs are, the gangs started firing at his van! They shot at him, wounding him in the side and in his feet and legs. They shot and killed a small child, who died in the van. Then, the gangs took everything the 14 passengers had. Our doctors did everything within their means to care for Alisma Gerlius, but he was so bad he had to be transported to a hospital, where they removed bullets from his side, feet, and legs. He is still in the hospital. We have already had patients like this and will continue to have more.
Pray About This Important Need…
We have always needed two ambulances, due to the patients from our Jesus Healing Center and also from our Birthing Center. In addition, there are many times we have to use one of these ambulances to get our children downtown to Port-au-Prince, and to certain doctors. So, we always “must have” two. One of our ambulances, an old one, is no longer running. We will need to buy another ambulance so that we always have two running. We do not have the cost of this yet, but things in Haiti are “very expensive.” The last new, fast ambulance we had was donated by Faith Church, and Pastor David Crank. It runs day and night. We are going to check on the price of another ambulance and we will let you know, but this is critical. We must have one for the Birthing Center and one for the Jesus Healing Center, both ready at all times!
God bless you.
