Yesterday evening we attended a Philo Party, sponsored by our Love A Child School. Haiti has 13 years of school and the last year, a tough year, is called Philo. Sometimes, the students have to repeat this year several times because it is really “difficult” to pass!!

The older children and the adults decorated a huge area inside the center of four classroom buildings. They had music, singing, dancing, and “speeches” (lots and lots of them!) Some of our older children, like Stephanie and Esther, and many others, attended! The inside area was darker and the other area had big lights (which made us look half dark and half light! Ha! That’s Haiti!)

Our Haitian children who are in Philo, are Christian, Samuel, Yolanda, Dieubon and Ada! Tents were erected and they had lots of lights!! No matter how bad things are in Haiti, and with big gangs up the road (about eight miles), Haitians are always looking for any excuse to “dress up!” And, they can buy “used clothing,” and come out looking like “movie stars!” You would never know you were in Haiti!!

Knowing what these people have been through with the gangs, and what they still are going through, “laughter is the best medicine there is, for stress!!” We have the “best partners,” in the world!
