We found him during a Mobile Clinic in the mountains. I can remember a poor father with torn clothing holding the hand of his son, and bringing him to our clinic. The little boy had a swollen belly, skinny arms, and no hair. I put the little guy on my lap and started to talk to him. I asked how old he was, thinking he might be six or seven. You can imagine how shocked I was to hear that he was 15. Severe malnutrition had stunted his growth. We brought him to our orphanage, and he had so much water in his stomach that we had to send him to a hospital. Pistache never grew very tall and finished his last year of Philo. (Pistache was one of our four children who were kidnapped a year ago.) He is now in college studying journalism, and that is his dream! We all love “Pistache!” He has brought us “great joy!”
