This afternoon, Widlene came to show us her new “creation!” She loves to cook and she loves to “create new recipes” and try them out on me, “Poppie, and everyone else!”
This dessert was a major thing to Widlene, who “thought of her chocolate recipe” in the middle of the night! She watched anxiously as Poppie Bobby took that first, serious bite! Yes! He loved it!! We are both supposed to be “watching what we eat,” and Bobby was definitely “watching it!”
We are so proud of Widlene, who just started college here in Haiti. It seems like yesterday, that her mother, Madamn Jesula, came to our front gate, saying that she was dying, and wanted to find a place to leave her two small children when she died. Well, she didn’t die! We put her in a hospital and took care of her, and then, gave her a job in our orphanage and took in her two children, one of whom was Widlene. We also built a little house in Miracle Village for her mother… just seems like yesterday.
We really love Haiti, its children, and its people. What a “high calling” God has given us! We certainly love Widlene, her mom, and her sister, Esther! Thank you, partners!!
