A Haitian Pastor, Claude, who is a close friend of ours, had a large orphanage in the area of Leogane, Haiti. About two years ago, we helped him build a new orphanage close to ours.

But while he was in the area of Leogane, he got a call from Social Services, asking him to take a two-year-old girl. That little girl was Magdala. Her mother and father had died, and she was starving. The people who took care of her said that she was eating rocks and they had no food or way of taking care of her.

This was not the first case we’ve seen of children eating rocks to fill the pain of hunger. We had a case like this, years ago, in our Mobile Medical Clinic, far in the mountains, so this little girl’s story was close to my heart.

Pastor Claude took her in and began to feed her the delicious food we receive each month from Feed My Starving Children. Today, Magdala is four years old and doing better, but we were told she needs an operation to remove all the rocks from her stomach!

It is heartbreaking to know that when children are starving, they will resort to eating things like mud cookies, saltwater soup, or even rocks!

Today, we were at Pastor Claude’s orphanage feeding the children when we saw Magdala, and we asked him if we could share her story.

We wish to thank Feed My Starving Children for the container of food we just received from them. We wish to thank all of God’s people who made this possible, and we pray that Magdala will get the surgery she needs. Sherry
