A Light in the Darkness: Love A Child’s Ministry in Petit-Goâve Prison
In the heart of Petit-Goâve, Haiti, where the sun beats down on the crowded prison yard, Hubert and his Love A Child team bring hope to those society often forgets. Every day together, we have the privilege of feeding 713 prisoners, providing them with nourishing meals that sustain their bodies and a message of love that feeds their souls. Among these 713 individuals are 581 men and women who have yet to stand before a judge, caught in the slow grind of Haiti’s justice system. Within the prison walls, 35 women and 19 children under 18 years of age share the same confined spaces, their stories a mix of hardship and resilience. For these prisoners, a warm meal is more than sustenance – it’s a reminder that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.
Love A Child’s work goes beyond filling empty stomachs. Each day, our prayer team arrives with songs of worship and heartfelt prayers, creating moments of peace in a place often marked by despair. On one remarkable day, the love of God shone brightly through their efforts. As the team sang and shared the message of Christ’s compassion, 23 prisoners opened their hearts, choosing to accept Jesus as their savior! It was a powerful testament to the transformative power of kindness and faith, sparked by the unwavering dedication of Love A Child’s volunteers. In a prison where hope can feel scarce, Love A Child’s daily presence offers both physical and spiritual nourishment, proving that even in the darkest places, love and faith can light the way. Love is something you do!
