We often brought in teams to Haiti “before the gangs took over.” We had to travel by truck and then on foot, deep into the mountains. Once, we did not bring enough water because we thought we were nearer to home than we were! The hot Haitian sun came out, and we were low on water. We were thirsty, dehydrated, and exhausted. Finally, we reached a river to soak our feet. Even though we could not drink the water, we were thankful.

All of a sudden, we heard a pick-up truck rumbling through the bushes… Who would that be? Thank God! Our Haitian Director, Nelio, arrived with a cooler of water, ice, and cold drinks!!! I knew then what David meant in the Bible when he said, “…My soul longeth for you in a dry and thirsty land where no water is.” – Psalms 63
