Remembering Jackson

Remembering Jackson

Jackson…

We first met Jackson in the mountains of Savaan Pit, Haiti. We had just finished a Mobile Clinic and were waiting on the trucks to come and get us. A young man (probably Jackson’s relative) came with Jackson. We had never seen a young boy with a “huge belly” like that! Jackson came over to us and said, “I want to go home with you!” I tried to tell him that we could not do that, and tried to let him know that we could send someone for him, etc. But Jackson would not take “no” for an answer!!! He spent the night with us, and we brought him down to our orphanage.

Our doctors checked him and told us that he had Kwashiorkor Malnutrition. This type of Malnutrition was the worst! This began a long story of many check-ups, etc. When he got worse, Jesse Ostrander offered to take him to the Dominican Republic for care. That began a long series of treatments, hospitals, doctors, changes in his diet, and much more. Everything and anything that we could for Jackson was done, but he began to get worse.

We had a kidney donor, but we also had to get him to the States. While working out these visa problems, Jackson got worse and passed away. Jesse Ostrander helped with getting Jackson to his doctors and hospitals in the Dominican Republic and much, much more! He loved his Bible, and he loved Jesus with all his heart. I could hear Jesus say to him, “Welcome home!”

We wish to thank Jackson’s donors, who helped so much, his friends, and all of you who have been praying for him. He is now with Jesus, and we will see him again. Jackson died yesterday in a hospital in the Dominican Republic, but in the “arms of Jesus!”

Jackson’s funeral service will be at our Love A Child Church in Fond Parisien at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
