Sandraline… “Pi-wi-li,” or “Lollipop!”

We call her “pi-wi-li,” which means “lollipop!” She was born in Croix des Bouquets, a couple of hours drive from us. When her mother died, her father was unable to care for her. He had a small job repairing bicycles in Port-au-Prince, in order to hire a woman to take care of her. But, jobs were scarce, and soon he realized the baby was not developing well. She was nine months old when he brought her to our orphanage. She was malnourished, full of oozing sores, and cried constantly. It took a long time to heal, and to this day she is “slower” in many ways than she should be. It is difficult for her in school, but she gives it “her best.” In fact, she loves school! She is now 15 and in 6th grade.

Sandraline is sweet. She loves to jump rope with the girls!!! She loves to clean! She especially loves to keep her closet organized, as best as she can. She helps the moms with the younger children and helps in the laundry room. Her favorite thing is “church” and “music.” We tell the children that “God brings out the best in people,” and that He has a plan for each one, Sandraline included!! We all love her!!!
