Sarah… Follow Your Dream

This is one of our older children, Sarah, who has completed high school and now is getting ready to find her place in life, here in Haiti. She is with some other children at our orphanage. She and her brother, Joseph, were brought to us when they were very small with Kwashiorkor malnutrition. Their mother had died, and their father could not care for them.

Sarah had a “mind of her own,” when she got older and finished school. She is strong-willed but especially tender-hearted. She wanted to go to college to learn “Administration,” and she would have been good at it. But two days ago, she came to me crying and telling me that she did not feel that this was what she wanted in life. Her heart was really breaking… I asked her, “Well Sarah, maybe that’s not God’s will. Maybe He has something else, for you to do, that you would really love.” And she said, “yes, I would love to work in a beauty shop and do hair and nails.”

I told her that she must follow her dream and if she loves what she does at work, then it’s really not “work,” because it becomes what you love. So, Sarah is “changing courses,” and she will be doing what she loves to do. I told her, “Poppie and I love what we do…” Some people call it work, but it is a calling, and it is what we love!! We love Sarah and she will reach her dream! We will keep you posted!
