Mr. Seriva Oske’s Family Needs a Home: 4-22-19 8:00 AM

You may have seen our television program, coming from the mountains of the village of Gobert, high above Peyi Pouri. We had gone there about two months ago to give many families food… it was our “first trip there.” We also cooked food for 350 children. We wanted our sponsors to help us by sponsoring food so that we could continue to feed this village each month.

Each family had a “ticket” to get food. We only brought enough for all the families who had a food ticket because our truck was loaded to the max. After giving out all the food, this man, Mr. Seriva Oske, came running to get a box of food. He lived in a village near Gobert. His wife had died, leaving him with eight children to feed. We found out “later,” that he had given away four children, to family members to be Restaveks (children who lost parents and have to live with a relative.) Restaveks become a “slave” to that family. He knew he could not feed all eight children without the help of his wife… so now, he had four at home.

When he reached Gobert, they were distributing the food and the “last box” was given out. He fell down on the ground and began to cry… not just a “few tears…” he sobbed. His hands were shaking. He was dressed in rags. His hope of feeding his children was “gone,” with that last box of food. By a miracle, we “found a box of food, that we had saved for a Haitian pastor.” We gave it to him… but his story made everyone cry. Grown Haitian men “do not cry.” But he had no dignity left. He was “down to zero.”

After we left the village, we began to think of “how we could help this man and his family.” We decided to talk to Pastor Souffrance, who lives not far from him. We are going to buy some land from Pastor Souffrance’s father, near the church (the same church David George and his partners and friends sponsored.) They would have to bring in buckets of sand and supplies, have to come from far, and be taken up to Peyi Pouri… but we can purchase the land and build a house big enough for him and “all his eight children.”

The land is large enough for him to grow a garden! The house would be made of blocks and have a “dahl” on the roof (PVC pipes) to collect water. The house would have three rooms and a porch and we would build an “outhouse.”

This way, Mr. Seriva Oske, and his family could go to Pastor Souffrance’s church and we could find “sponsors” to put his children in our Love A Child School.  We could give him a job “under Pastor Souffrance,” doing anything he needed to be done, road work, church work, anything… and find someone to “sponsor him each month,” as payment for his “job.”

Since this project is high in the mountains, it will cost more than the regular houses we have built in Miracle Village, but in addition, he would have a larger piece of land to grow a garden. Everything above would be a total of $12,500. Any funds raised over this amount would help us with such things as paint, some furniture, etc.

If this is something the Lord is leading you to do, please contact our office at 239-210-6107 and ask to speak with Rad. We will keep you updated on the amount that has come in or maybe “one person” would feel led to sponsor the entire amount of $12,500. That would be a miracle for this family. Pray about this… God bless you and thank you for “blessing the poor.” Bobby and Sherry
