Sustainable Development Projects

This is a message from Rad Hazelip, who leads many of our sustainable development projects.

“Helping Haitians learn to help themselves is what our sustainable development projects are all about. You’ve read about the recent successes of the Poul Mirak chicken co-op expanding into raising eggs and having their second “chicken school class,” and you’ve seen about the Agricultural Training Center (ATC) extending its training into nearby villages to help with raising their own food, etc, and now the slaughterhouse is really moving ahead helping the Haitians, too.

Farmer John’s quality beef, developed by John Draxton, is now managing the Gwo Mache Mirak slaughterhouse. Farmer John’s is the best beef available in Haiti and soon the slaughterhouse will re-open “under new management.” John has a team of good and qualified Haitians to run the day-to-day operations, processing, marketing and selling the highest quality beef and other meats in Haiti. This is an exciting development project that will yield benefits for many years to come.

You see, all the Love A Child development projects were designed to work together to support one another and build up a critical mass of enterprise at the marketplace, providing employment, and a brighter and more secure future. Sustainable enterprises strengthen Haiti for a better tomorrow. Thank you to all those donors who help by supporting our sustainability projects.”
