I remember the first time I saw Miliana. We were doing our Love A Child program and filming it in a poor village where we wanted to start a feeding program. While talking on TV, I noticed a little girl with red scraggly hair walking through the bushes. She was chewing on a string and looked so bad and distraught. She was very malnourished. We decided to bring her to our orphanage until she was well. Soon after, we noticed that she had a horrible skin disease that looked like “little tree trunks” growing out all over her body! We sent her to one of our friends in the States who took her to a dermatologist. She had many treatments and it helped some, but she still had those growths all over her body. They tell me there is no treatment because if one growth is cut off, it will grow back!

Miliana is a sweet girl, very shy, and does not want to talk much. She is 14 years old, in 6th grade, and is a good worker! She speaks English, and wants to be “an English teacher.” We love Miliana! Sherry
