TASHA AND HER FIVE SIBLINGS:

TASHA AND HER FIVE SIBLINGS:

SOUTH HAITI: TOUCHING STORY.

In the heart of Haiti’s rugged mountains, 12-year-old Tasha Bien-Aime bore a burden far heavier than her small frame suggested. Orphaned by tragedy—her father gunned down by gang members in Port Au Prince over a year ago, her mother long gone—Tasha became the lifeline for her five younger siblings and their frail, wheelchair-bound grandmother.

In their crumbling home, hope was a scarce commodity, as fleeting as the meals that rarely graced their table.

One day, a whisper of salvation reached Tasha’s ears: Love A Child, a beacon of compassion, was coming to the town of Sainta, bringing food for starving children. The news ignited a spark in Tasha’s weary heart. With no time to waste, she rallied her siblings—each barely old enough to walk the perilous path ahead—and together, they embarked on a grueling trek over the mountain. Tasha carried the youngest on her back, her thin arms trembling under the weight, while her siblings clung to one another, their bare feet bruised by jagged stones. Driven by love and desperation, they crossed into the next valley, where Santa waited like a distant promise.

When they arrived, Tasha’s eyes widened at the sight: plates of warm food, steaming with possibility, offered freely to 127 children, including her own family. For the first time in days, their bellies were full. Tasha, wise beyond her years, tucked away scraps of the meal in plastic bags, knowing the hunger would return before hope did. Each morsel she saved was a shield against the lean days ahead, a testament to her fierce resolve to keep her family alive.
