You may remember reading about our trip to Ponte Plume. This is the little Haitian village across the lake between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. We have been there several times distributing food.

I asked the precious pastor if they had a school because I noticed a building. He told me that an organization built it years ago and sponsored the school for one year and then left. That was so sad. Since that day years ago, they have had no money to pay teachers. And the teachers have to come from far away, catch a boat, and go back home each day. I told him that I would try to find a sponsor to pay all of the teachers each month. We went over the list he had from years ago. It came to a little over $1,000 a month, just for the teachers. I told him that we could not pay this because it was not our school, but I would try to find him a sponsor for the cost of the teachers only. Well, he came to see me last week, all excited, and said that the parents went out and sold things and borrowed money for uniforms and everyone was so excited, and “they have been having school for a month and wondered when we could pay them!” I tried to explain to the pastor that I had not even had the time to take pictures, let alone find support…

So, if you are reading this, and if you feel led to sponsor this school until June, we would need $1,000 a month or $6,000 to take us to June.
