The Heart of God: 2-24-19 1:45 PM

It was about two weeks ago that we had visited the village of Gobert, high above Peyi Pouri. This is one of the little children that gripped our hearts… She was about five years old… Her little “crumpled metal bowl” is hard to see because of her dirty dress, but it is empty. For most of the children there, this is the “norm.”

While there, we were not only feeding over 325 children but delivering food to each family. They all stood patiently in line with their food card, waiting for that one box of food…

After all, their main garden crop is beans… It takes a “year” for the beans to grow, and all the “conditions” have to be right for this crop or there will be nothing…

Meanwhile, many mothers and fathers struggle to feed their children. One father (who did not have a food card) came because he had eight children and his wife had just died. I will never forget the look of pain and horror as he realized the “last box” was given out. Thankfully, we had one box left for a Pastor, and we gave that to him… I watched his face grimace in agony as tears rolled down his face… He told us of the near starvation of his children… These are the things that break the heart of God. We will see what the Lord has in store for this man and his family… God bless you, Sherry
