“The Kindness of God…” II Samuel Chapter 9: “We serve a loving God, who wants to take care of the poor. He uses His children to do this…”
In II Samuel, we read about David again. He has already won many battles and God is getting ready to bless him even more. His enemy, Saul, who had chased David for years trying to kill him, had been wounded in battle and died. But in II Samuel 9:1, David’s heart is grieved for Saul, his main enemy, who is dead. David wants to do “something good” for the household of his greatest enemy, Saul, and for the household of Jonathan, Saul’s son, who had also died in battle.
He asks his people, “Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may show the ‘the kindness of God’ to him?” You know the answer… Jonathan had a son, who was lame on both feet, “Mephibosheth.” You know the answer… David brought this crippled young man into his castle, and had him eat at the King’s table, as his own son! David hired men to take care of the land that “Mephibosheth” had and blessed this crippled young man, all the days of his life!
We all need “the kindness of God” in our lives! Have a blessed day!
