We wish to thank Lori at Real Hope for Haiti for all of the advice, time, and patience she had to give to us today. Philemond drove Nixon, Dr Barthelemy, and myself to Real Hope for Haiti outreach in Cazelle. I hadn’t been there for a while and had forgotten what a rough ride it was! What a traffic blockade we went through!
Lori has a wonderful clinic and malnutrition clinic. We went there for her advice and to find out “what problems” we will face… There are a lot of them! The one thing we wondered about was whether to keep the mother with her baby, since she is the one who sells at the market and has all of her other children at home.
Lori’s answer was simple… “She won’t stay. Just hire nannies to care for the children and be sure to have qualified nurses and doctors to start. That will give you time to find the right pediatrician.” She also told us, as we knew, that the baby or child coming in needs to be quarantined for two weeks before he or she can be mixed with other children.
We donate food each month to Lori at Real Hope for Haiti, as well as to other missionaries. Lori took her time with us, answered all of our questions, gave us an “encyclopedia of information,” and couldn’t have been more helpful. We want to thank Lori and her staff for welcoming us and for all of her help and advice!! It was a great day!! Sherry
