The Bible declared that “the goodness of God leads men to repentance.” Romans 2:4
Mezelus is an older Haitian man who works in our orphanage yard. He is such a “sweetie.” He always comes to greet me.
Yesterday, he came and said, “do you remember how I got converted? (saved?)” I told him, “I certainly do!”
He was one of our “original pikan workers.” Pikan trees are trees that have long sharp thorns on them. So we had hired Mezelus and about 20 more guys to cut the thorn trees and clear our land.
We all met in the morning. But on one morning, the “pikan workers,” were all in a bad mood, cussing and fussing and talking loud. It may have been because we had just fired one of them the day before.
Mezelus and one other guy were arguing with us and Bobby was trying to talk to them. To make a long story short, “Lou Lou” (one of our crazy workers) and Mezelus were so mean we had to fire them!
But the next day, everyone begged us to take them back and we did.
Mezelus was always a trouble maker until one day, he got very sick and near death. They carried him inside our orphanage and laid him on a bench.
In spite of what he had done to us, we sent him to a hospital, paid his bills, and this saved his life.
Two weeks later, we were in our Church here in Fond Parisien and Pastor Varius was getting ready to preach. All of a sudden, Mezelus walked into our Church, walked up front, and grabbed the microphone from our Pastor, who was in shock!!
Mezelus stood up and began to give a testimony of how, through the Lord, we had saved his life! And, he said, “Now, because of this, I want to give my heart to Jesus!” He did! And, he got baptized! He became a member of our Church. We brought him to work in our yard here because his health was poor.
The “goodness of God,” wins more people to Jesus than all the preaching we can do. Remember, “you are a walking, talking Bible to the lost!”
Let your light shine! There’s always a “Mezelus watching you!”
