The Story of Two Boys, a Christian Lady, and a Voodoo Lady…

Meet “Jepth-te and Peterson…” Jepth-te is 10 years old and his brother, Peterson, is 8 years old. These boys are so precious and so obedient. They are brothers.

How they came to us is a strange, “Haitian story…” A few weeks ago, our pastor, “Ludis,” called me to meet him in our Mobile Medical Clinic room. He had these two little boys, dressed in their school uniforms, sitting very quietly. Their mother is a devout Christian and attends our church. I do not know if the father is a Christian, but at least he was a good father to the children. Their Christian mother, Madamn Louis, lived near the pastor. Not far from her was a bad, wicked Voodoo woman who hated Madamn Louis. She told everyone that “Madamn Louis was putting spells on her!” Well, the Voodoo woman had a baby and the baby died. The Voodoo woman went to the police station and told them that Madamn Louis killed her baby and that she wanted her “arrested.” (In Haiti, people “kill people with Voodoo all of the time.”)

Madamn Louis, the boys’ mother, heard that the police were coming, and she fled. So, the police arrested the father! (I have seen this done before. If the police come to arrest one spouse and they cannot find them, they arrest the other thinking that the guilty one will turn themselves in for the innocent one, but that doesn’t always happen.)

We were supposed to keep these two boys “until their mother came back,” or “until their father was released from prison.” I called Social Services and had them come over to tell the story in case one of the children should get hurt in my care. In the meantime, the father was released and “fled the scene!” And Mom has no intention of coming back because she is afraid that she will be killed.

Meanwhile, we have little Jepth-te and Peterson staying with us “until whatever happens!” They are so sweet, hard workers, and obedient. I offered Bien Social to “trade two of mine for these two!!” Ha!!!

We will let you know “the rest of the story” when it happens. Until then, they are “adjusting to life at Love A Child” very well… hint… hint. Sherry
