These sweet children are just some of the children from the mountains near Peyi Pouri. They are “Haiti’s poor.”
They know that there are gangs in the streets, so they cannot go “down,” the mountain without fear.
Mikerlange and her brother gather little sticks to sell. They will only make a few pennies, which will not even provide one decent meal. They both walk across the mountains “barefoot,” often cutting their feet, and slipping on the rocks, but they must do it to help their mother.
Little Mikerlange would love to go to church but she doesn’t even have flip flops, let alone shoes…Of course, they do not go to school so they will never get a good job.
These are the ones who bring to our eyes. This is why Jesus said to “remember the poor,” and “clothe and feed them.” He lays these little children in front of our eyes, to see what we will do… God bless all of you “who love the poor!”
Great, is your reward in Heaven!
