It was about 5:00 a.m. when I heard some talking outside my door on the top of the stairs. It was Nelson and little David cleaning and disinfecting the railings here at the Love A Child Children’s Home. Nelson looked up at me and gave me a big “smile!” He was not complaining about work; he was working hard “to keep his pants from falling down,” while disinfecting the railings! His shorts were too big, and they kept falling down but that didn’t stop him! The “work” must go on!
As you may know, we found Nelson in the village of Old Letant, while filming one of our TV programs. When I had finished talking I noticed this little boy (looking like a little stump) sitting on his bended knees, in the heat of the sun… no water, no food, and no one caring if he would live or die. His parents were involved in Voodoo… he had malnutrition. That’s the day we brought him home.
Slowly, he learned to walk, talk, play, and sing! He is one of the sweetest children we have! If you are looking at this story, please know that “you” have made a difference in the life of this child!

P.S. We will get him some shorts with elastic in the waist… just think of what he can do, if he can keep his pants up!!
