We are so blessed that God has called us to help children in need and bring them into a loving family. Colin, the little boy with a big plate of food, was brought to us because his “voodoo father” got angry with him for trying to take another small handful of rice out of the family cooking pot. So he held his little boy’s hand in the coals of a hot charcoal fire to punish him. Christian, the little boy with the yellow tie, was brought to us by the Department of Social Services because his father is in prison for life in Haiti. The last boy, Raphael, was brought to us because his parents both died in an old wooden boat on the ocean. They were trying to make it to the States to make a better life for their children.
