I just kept staring at that little baby on the ground…a baby girl. Her grandma had been carrying her around and then, plopped her on the dirty ground. She just sat there and eventually put a handful of dirt in her mouth. Her name was Mika and we were in the village of Madamn Bauje. This is where we had built a Christian School, conducted Mobile Medical Clinics and we were distributing food here each month. The baby had malnutrition, and short, dry, fuzzy, “straw-like” hair. She was sucking on her thumb. Her body was covered in sores. God spoke to me so clearly… “If you leave her here, she will die.”
We asked her Grandma if we could take her to our orphanage and she said, “yes.” Off we went…
We had her in and out of clinics and finally, she began to gain weight. Today, she is 12 and in 6th grade! Time flies! She loves to dance, sing and cook! She loves working in the Laundry Room! Her favorite subject is Social Science. She is kind, warm and always, always, always smiling! She wants to be a teacher! I’m so glad we said “yes” to Jesus! Sherry
