While facing constant hunger, the Haitian poor are facing worse problems. The storm and heavy rains that raged throughout Haiti brought sweeping flood waters down through the rocky river bed in Haiti and into many other areas. The huge force of the water took out homes and carried away their few skinny animals, livestock, and also homes and children. One mother that we know of lost one child before the storm, and two more as she watched helplessly as the river carried them away. It affected her so badly that we had to send our ambulance to bring her to our clinic.
Today, our Love A Child staff and older children will be doing “Disaster Relief” and giving out clothing, tents, blankets, and toiletries. Please remember “Haiti’s poor” in your prayers today. Here are just a few stories of those affected.
Louis Madrid is a lady with six children. She lives next to the river, and she lost her house in the storm and is feeling so sad because now she’ll have to live with her neighbors.
Mathania Jean is 31 years old and lives in “Peyi Pouri.” She had three children, one of them died before the storm, and now she has lost the other two while she was trying to save their lives by crossing the river. She’s very sick now…
Sterlineca is one of the girls that was trying to escape from the water with two children that died in the water. Her aunt also died in the water, as she can’t walk… they have lost everything.
