planting trees in Haiti

Tree Planting Day Haiti: 4-21-16 2:15 PM

Over 97 percent of Haiti is deforested. This has caused many problems for this island nation, such as erosion of the soil, devastating mudslides, and a lack of resources, which come either directly or indirectly from trees. On April 28th, the Agriculture Training Center at Love A Child is hosting a planting day and celebration to help raise awareness of the importance of trees, and to put our hands to work to be a positive part of the solution. Our current class of agroecology students will be leading the community by planting coconuts, citrus, and additional specific economic and environmentally important tree species, along with vetiver grass for erosion control. Pray for all who will be involved in this important effort to make a difference in the country of Haiti, and that it will spark a fire to reclaim the land to produce a harvest for the people.
