As you may remember, a few weeks ago, a woman abandoned her baby and left him in the weeds in front of our Love A Child gate. We sent him to Social Services first, which is what we are required to do by Haitian Law. They sent him back to us and told us to take care of him and get him back to health. He has been in L’hopital de Nos Petits Freres et Soeurs for about ten days. Before then, he was in another hospital for about four days. Each day, we have to send a mother from our Love A Child Children’s Home to sit in a straight chair, beside him all night long. We send money to the mother each day for food, and for her extra work with this baby. If we can keep him, we will call him Joshua! Joshua weighed just 4.5 pounds when he went to the hospital, but he has gained about 5 ounces. He no longer vomits food, but he is still on IVs.
