Update: Crisis in Haiti

Update: Crisis in Haiti

FUEL UPDATE:  From good news to bad news…The good news was, as you know, that the diesel fuel was supposed to be coming, but the bad news is that due to thousands of people on the streets, throwing rocks, burning tires, and roadblocks, the fuel truck cannot come from the area where it is now. We are praying that tomorrow will be a better day.

This is fact: Please pray!

Today, in Haiti, is chaos. Tens of thousands of people in Port-au-Prince and other areas are marching. Terrible things are happening. Everything is locked down. Nothing is open. Through all of this political, economic, fuel, and food crisis, the Haitian people are suffering unbelievably! No one has any money. The bank out here has been closed for many days. Everyone is desperate for money. Businesses have shut down. I just received an email from an orphanage about six or seven miles down the road from us that the gangs have been threatening the orphanage director and threatened to rape the children. The director is scared to death, as well as the children. They were throwing rocks at the orphanage last night. We are out of cash and have been helping everyone we can.

Farmer John, next door, just emailed me. He told me that he had to shut the doors of his business because people have been coming in to ask for loans. He has given out all of his cash to help. These are not beggars; they are just ordinary citizens who have nothing. Please pray for Haiti. Our hearts are torn out, and I wasn’t going to talk about this, but we need your prayers. All of the missionaries need your prayers. Haiti needs your prayers. Bobby Burnette
