Update from Haiti

With a sad heart, the news is not good. They tell me that the Amerijet building at the airport has been set on fire. This is happening right now. People are shooting up and down the airport road, among other areas, and possibly could still be shooting. In Croixs-des-Bouquets, gangs are on top of buildings shooting at cars as they travel by and others are throwing rocks at people and cars. In other areas there are roadblocks, burning tires, and the list goes on… With all of the rumors, I’m not sure what’s true and what is not. Very important: Croixs-des-Bouquets is very dangerous at the main crossroads. I would advise no one to come to Haiti unless it’s mission-critical.

These are not the people and sweet families that we work with in Haiti. These are the thugs and gangs that are paid mostly by the opposition to overthrow the president. It’s all about greed and power. What do you do when there are no jobs, 85% unemployment, no money, and mostly everything is closed? There isn’t any running water and hardly any electricity. (The majority of Haiti has no electricity.) We are very sad. The schools are still not open! The children are suffering. Young people are upset.

Now, the opposition groups are fighting each other.

Frankly, we are all tired of this. Enough is enough! No one can go on like this! Everyone has canceled their mission teams from coming in. Many are going out of business who have worked hard all their life. We are in the middle of a political, economic, fuel and food crisis. We have heard that one major hospital will close, and another one is threatening to close.

Please pray for Haiti, the president, and the missionaries.
Please pray for the Haitians who have nothing to do with this.
Please pray, especially, for the children who suffer the most.
