Update on Jackson

Update on Jackson: 1-21-17 8:00 AM

Jasson aka Jackson… You may remember this sweet, young boy. We found him while conducting a Mobile Medical Clinic high in the mountains of Savaan Pit. He was in terrible condition and suffering from severe malnutrition. He has been living at the Love A Child Orphanage where he receives proper nourishment and lots of love.

Jackson has some medical issues that need more care than can be provided here in Haiti. He has been diagnosed with a condition called Childhood Nephrotic Syndrome, which is not a disease, but a group of symptoms that make up a “syndrome” or condition. He exhibits edema, high levels of albumin in his urine, higher than normal blood cholesterol and fat levels, high blood pressure, diarrhea and more. This little guy is uncomfortable, has a lot of pain and is not responding well to the medications that can be offered in Haiti. There is another type of medication that is readily available in the United States. We are unable to take Jackson off the medication we give him in Haiti because his symptoms return and he becomes seriously ill. The medication he receives in Haiti has many side effects like muscle weakness, osteoporosis, bone fractures, Cushing’s syndrome, vertigo and many others. We were told by a visiting Pediatric Specialist that his prognosis is poor and he will probably die in his early 20s, if he does not receive the help he needs.

We want to get Jackson to the States for medical care. We are looking for a doctor that will help treat Jackson and give him a better quality of life. Please pray about how you can help us get Jackson to the United States for necessary medical care. If you are able to help, please send an email to info@lachaiti.org or call 239-210-6107. Thank you partners. Sherry
