Update on Bobby and Sherry

We just received a phone call from Bobby at the children’s home that they have no internet service again today. Of course, they do not know how long they will be without internet, but at least they were able to get a phone call out. Bobby said they are trying to buy 1,300 gallons of fuel for the generators and water pump today on the black market. There is NO fuel available in Haiti so they must try to get it off the “black market” at the border with the Dominican Republic. If they can get the fuel today, it will last them about 6-7 days. Bobby did mention that the Jesus Healing Clinic, the Birthing Center, and the Malnutrition Center all remain open, serving any Haitians that can get there. Love A Child remains “open for business.” However, he said they are 100% out of Feed My Starving Children food, and could not even get out into the “regions beyond” to distribute food and aid even if they had the food that is now held captive in the port. Bobby also said that while most everything in town is closed due to security concerns, many of the vendors at our Gwo Mache Mirak are still open selling their locally grown produce and Farmer John’s slaughterhouse is too, providing some opportunity for commerce and critical livelihood in our area of Fond Parisien. Bobby and Sherry appreciate your continued prayers, and especially your financial support in this great time of need. It gives them a wonderful boost of encouragement to keep going on.

Thank you,
Rad Hazelip, Assistant Executive Director
