Update on Dashca

We first met Dashca when we were conducting a Food Distribution in a village not far from us. She had been living with her aunt, who was very poor. One day, Dashca overheard her aunt talking to another lady. Her aunt said, “I have kids of my own and now I have to raise Dashca. I owe money to the creditors. What should I do?” The lady told Dashca’s aunt, “You should sell Dashca and you will be able to feed your own children!” Dashca heard everything from inside the mud hut. She began to cry. Her dream was to go to school. Now, she was going to be sold!

When we heard about this story, we found a relative to care for her. We send money each month for her. We paid for a uniform, books, backpack, etc. for school. Our little girls here at our orphanage grabbed nice clothes from their closets, and sent a full suitcase of clothes!

As we just finished lunch, Bobby and I heard a knock on our door, and Dieuferly (one of our older Haitian children), came up the stairs with Samuel, our photographer, and Pastor Souffrance, and “Dashca!!”

This beautiful little girl came up and threw her arms around us, thanking us for helping her and putting her in school!! It was a “day of tears!!” No money in the world could be worth the joy of helping “one little child!!” Thank you, wonderful partners!
